Before releasing this plugin to the general public, I would really like to have some people test it and look for any bugs or scalability issues that may be present. That is why I’m posting it here.
What does this plugin do?
This plugin allows users to create multiple levels of Super Admin users within a WordPress Multi Site installation. Out of the box, in order for a user in WordPress Multi Site to have any control over network settings, they have to be granted full Super Admin status. This plugin changes that. You can create multiple roles and have granular control over the capabilities that each role has. Then, you can assign any Super Admins you desire to that role.
If you are running a WordPress Multi Site installation, please download the plugin at the bottom of this post and let me know if you see any issues or have any suggestions for improvement.
This plugin is also supposed to be fully compatible with John James Jacoby’s WordPress Multi Network plugin (though, in order to test that functionality on WordPress 3.1-RC3, I had to make my own modifications to the WPMN plugin; but I expect that JJJ’s changes will be similar once he releases the official 3.1-compatible version of WPMN). If you are running a multi-network setup with his plugin, please let me know if you notice any issues with my Extended Super Admins plugin, too.
Thanks in advance for any help you can offer. I hope, once this plugin is ready for prime time, that it will help a lot more people out there.
